Meet The Team

Elliot Lance, PT, DPT, CSCS

It's difficult to write something about yourself but I think it's important. I want you to know as much as you can about me so that it can help you decide whether or not you want to be a part of our team here at Prime!

So here goes:

I was born and raised right here in South Carolina. I went to high school at Lexington High in Lexington, SC. I played a ton of sports as a kid. My life revolved around competition. I was fortunate enough to have a solid support system at home that was filled with family and friends that pushed me to become a better athlete and a fierce competitor. I owe them everything and they were the driving force that allowed me to play baseball for Wofford College.

Baseball was my life and I loved every second of playing for the Terriers. After my collegiate career ended, I moved to Charleston and started the Physical Therapy program at MUSC. It was the first time I wasn't involved in sports or competition of any kind. I kept working out and trying to stay in shape, but I missed the camaraderie and training.

In March 2019, I tried my first CrossFit class. I immediately fell in love with the competition aspect of it and started training as a CrossFit athlete. It has shaped a lot of what I believe as a Doctor of Physical Therapy and how I treat my patients. Does that mean I put my patients through CrossFit workouts? No (Unless that is your goal).

What it does mean is that I believe in the strength and resiliency of the human body? I am a movement optimist. I believe that our body can do so much more than we give it credit for. I believe this because I have seen it. One of the most important reasons why I started Prime is that so that I can preach this message of empowerment to every individual that I come in contact with.

You absolutely CAN do it. You CAN get out of pain. You CAN reach that ever-elusive goal. You DON'T have to live with this pain or discomfort. I have seen it happen. I have done it myself. I live it every day in the way that I treat patients and in the way that I train. Let me be your guide to get out of pain and get back to doing the things you love to do!

Katie Edwards RYT, LMBT

Katie moved to Charleston right after graduation from the University of South Carolina in 2012 and ever since has considered Charleston home. Her early career was in Resort Management; however, it didn't take much time for her to realize that a desk job was not right for her.

To combat the stress and sedentary lifestyle of said desk job she started practicing yoga and went on to  complete her Yoga Teacher Training at Gaea Yoga Center in 2014. A nagging wanderlust and her new found skill set took her on travels around the world throughout her twenties - travel will always be her first love.

Katie found massage therapy and bodywork when she suffered a knee injury that kept her from her yoga practice and doing other activities she loved. Bodywork, massage therapy and yoga helped her through the recovery process and she came to realize all of the ways that touch and movement therapy can be beneficial.

She went on to complete her massage therapy training at The Pacific Center for Awareness and Bodywork on the beautiful island of Kauai. Her training focused on Structural Integration, Lomi Lomi and Somatic Bodywork although she uses a blend of modalities in most sessions.

She believes that touch and bodywork can be whatever you want it to be. Whether relaxation is your goal, or healing from pain or trauma, the journey is yours to determine. She aims to be there for you to help you reach your goals, help you find more embodiment in your body, and find a sense of peace and centeredness after each session.

Message from Katie:

"My approach is to be 100% client centered. We will work together to find whatever it is that stands in your way from thriving. At Prime, we wholeheartedly believe that you are strong and resilient. It's important to take control of your own healing journey and everyone's path might look a little different. And that is OK!

I believe that getting out of pain, bettering your mental health, and achieving your goals are all tasks that are within reach when we work together. I would love to be there to help you achieve whatever it is you are aiming for."
